The top campsites to enjoy

1. Beaverlac Camping, Cederberg, Western Cape

Beaverlac is a comfortable, pet-friendly campsite, which makes it a great choice for a weekend retreat. Being only two hours out of Cape Town, Beaverlac makes a great option for celebrating New Year’s Eve under the stars. It’s also brilliant as a Valentine’s getaway. Beaverlac has two excellent mountain bike trails or trail running routes (whichever suits your passion). It’s also home to the famous one day Leopard hiking trail, which boasts rock pools, rock art, and spectacular caves.

2. Tsendze Rustic Campsites, Northern Kruger National Park

Situated just kilometers away from Mopani Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park, this relatively new campsite has all the ingredients for a magnificent New Year camp out. With the game and bird life surrounding the camp, it’s hard to find fault with Tsendze. It hosts about 30 camp sites with basic facilities including hot water, electricity, lights, and ablutions.

3. Albert Falls, Pietermaritzburg

The Albert Falls is a fantastic family getaway. Situated 30 minutes out of Pietermaritzburg, in the Albert Falls Dam and Game Reserve, this campsite is hard to beat. It hosts amazing activities, such as excellent bass fishing, watersports on the dam, hiking, and exploring. This small campsite accommodates roughly 20 tents and caravans, and is kitted out with ablution blocks, electricity, power points, and hot water.

4. Storms River Mouth Rest Camp, Tsitsikamma National Park

If the Garden Route is your area of choice then there’s only one answer here. It’s the absolutely breathtaking Storms River Mouth Rest Camp. The unbeatable landscape stretches down to the mouth of the river on the east side of the park. The mouth is home to dolphins, who love to show off, as well as southern right whales.

Camping is made comfortable, with all the facilities you could need. The forest and shore line are home to the most incredible animal life, and it’s all within reach of your campsite. In our opinion, this could be the top campsite in South Africa

5. Warm Baths Camping, Gauteng

Being one of the more popular campsites in the Gauteng region, Forever Warm Baths has 300 campsites and facilities to match. Limpopo’s natural mineral baths make this campsite a major attraction, and foreigners are known to frequent this location, so don’t miss out.
